Retail Sales Statistics

1. Everyone should be interested in these statistics because they affect the nation's economy. People that are interested or work in retail would also be interested because it is based on a whole year worth of sales in this market.
2. The statistics were collected from the Economic Census-Maufacturing; surveys given in 2007 and 2008. The Government runs these census and are done once a year.
3. Retail e-commerce sales increased from $137 billion in 2007 to $142 billion in 2008, an annual gain of 3.3%. Retail Total Sales went down from 4,005 billion in 2007 to 3,959 billion in 2008. This is not a big drop but it is still a drop.
