Question on calculating standard error

Given that the standard deviation is 4 and the population size is 1000, calculate the standard error for the this study.

  1. The answer is 0.4
    Find the square root of 100 = 10
    Then divide 4 by 10

  2. if your population size is 1000, shouldn't you be finding the square root of 1000?

    My answer: .12649

    i don't know if i'm right, though...
