  1. In order to calculate the sample standard deviation we need to calculate the sample mean:

    Mean: (5.90+4.39+10.00+4.90+5.90)/5=6.212

    Then we need to calculate the Sample Variance:

    S^2=((5.90-6.212)^2+(4.36-6.212)^2+(10.00-6.212)^2+(4.90-6.212)^2+(5.90-6.212)^2 )/(5-1)= 4.92372

    and finally, we can calculate the Standard Deviation:

    S=√4.92372 = 2.2189457

    Answer: The Standard Deviation for the data is approx. 2.2189457
